Our Little Story

Baked with Soul

We’re not just here to bake bread. We’re here to bring back the feeling of bread—fresh from the oven, shared with people you love, made slowly and with care.

At Loaf & Soul | Bread and Bakes, we hope to become part of your weekly rhythm. The smell that fills your kitchen. The treat you sneak in between tasks. The crust you save for last.

We’re hoping to nourish more than bellies. To bring moments of pause, joy, and connection through every loaf, cookie, and cozy bake we make.

Whether it’s a morning slice of sourdough, a midweek cookie craving, or something special you share on weekends—we’re honoured to be part of your table.

This isn’t just bread. It’s a love language.

Made Mindfully, Shared Generously

At Loaf & Soul, everything starts with good flour, a little patience, and a whole lot of heart. What began as a simple love for sourdough in a home kitchen in Valley East has grown into a cozy micro-bakery fueled by community, craft, and carbs.

We bake the slow way—small batches, long fermentation, and only the good stuff.

Every loaf and bake is made by hand, with soul, to nourish more than just hunger. Whether it’s our crusty sourdough, cheeky cookies, or sweet little specials, we believe food should feel like a warm hug (or at least a high-five).

We’re proud to show up at local markets, farmstands, and porches with bread that connects people—to flavour, to comfort, and to each other.

Building Something Beautiful

Now in full swing, Loaf & Soul continues to bake with intention—feeding not just bellies, but hearts. We’re refining our online experience, dreaming up new recipes, and growing our presence across the Valley. Still small-batch. Still handmade. Always with soul.

Rising with Community

With growing demand (and a growing starter), we officially launched Loaf & Soul. Weekly bread drops became the heartbeat of our business, with cozy menus featuring small-batch sourdough, cheeky cookies, and seasonal bakes. We popped up at Eagle Ridge Acres Farmstand and The Valley Market | Where Local Matters, connecting with folks who believe in good food, supporting local. ingredients you can pronounce and even better community.

Where It All Began

It started in a little home kitchen in Valley East—with one sourdough starter, a deep love for bread, and a craving for something more soulful.

What began as experiments in flour and fermentation quickly became a husband saying "stop making bread-we have no more freezer space, to drop offs and taste tests for unsuspecting neighbours and friends, then became weekend porch pickups.
